Common questions

My phone will not join the quiz. What should I try?

Check the six-character code on the host's screen and type it at brainbell.app/join. If the page loads but will not connect, the Wi-Fi may be blocking live connections, so try mobile data.

The QR code will not scan.

Move closer, turn the screen brightness up, or turn off any glare. Everyone can also go to brainbell.app/join and type the code instead.

I lost my connection during a quiz.

Stay on the page: it reconnects by itself and keeps your score. If you closed it, open the same join link on the same device to get back in.

It says the quiz could not be found.

The code may be mistyped, or the quiz may have ended. A quiz closes about ten minutes after its final results, or after twenty minutes with no activity.

Our school web filter blocks the site.

Ask your IT team to allow brainbell.app and brain-bell-live.ahsan-shahbaz21.workers.dev. The second address runs the live quizzes. Please also let us know, so we can help get the site categorised as education.

Where did my quizzes go?

Quizzes are saved in the browser you made them on, so they do not appear on other devices, and clearing browser data removes them. Keep a copy by exporting a file or sharing a link from the quiz maker.

There is no sound.

Press Sound on the host's screen, and check the device volume. Phones start silent, so that a room full of them stays calm, and each player can turn sound on.
